How often have you wished if you had a second chance to live?

A lot of things you would have done different or avoided a lot of mistakes if you were given another opportunity to live on this earth…

But we all know that is not going to happen

Whatever we discover and believe in this lifetime, there is no second chance after death whatsoever… A person born once will die one day.

Scroll Down to discover about the Two Sons who had one opportunity to live and faced life in two different ways

There is a well known story in the Bible about two sons. It is narrated by Jesus in Luke 15:11-32.

The younger son is notably known as the prodigal son.

The younger son lived a messed up life which he was responsible for.

The older son was not the notorious one but something in him does not seem right either!

He does not seem to be a good son.

The Father longs for a real relationship with both His sons.

God is our heavenly Father and He made us.

The air we breathe, food we eat, water we drink are gifts from Him.

He loves us irrespective of our religion or background

No matter what religion or philosophy one follows, all are reponsible to live right before God.

Just like the two sons in the story, people can be  generally categorized into two.

One category, like the older son thinks they are doing Okay.

They don’t harm anyone and live as good citizens.

They think they are pleasing God and therefore can earn heaven.

The younger son category feels that they have messed up. They know they are unable to meet God’s standards, no matter how hard they try

Hello! My name is Good person, the older son.

I try to do good most of the time and hope to get some credit for the right things I do…

I am not perfect but maybe the good things I do can recompense the bad things I’ve done…

Hello I am Unlucky the younger son.

I try to do a lot of good but doesn’t seem like I can please God.

I have messed up a lot and still do. I don’t think that I can ever meet God’s holy standards.

The older son category has the desire to please God which is good, but the approach is wrong.

The million dollar question is, how good is good enough for God?

According to God’s standards this puts the first category off the map!

The second group is honest and has the right approach but but the result is hopelessness.

All their efforts seem hopeless no matter how hard they try.

They tried several self-help methods and realized that they cannot help themselves.

Does the younger son still have some hope?

Both sons were selfish and lived in their own ways.

The older son

The older son lived with the father all these years, but did not realize what he missed-the real relationship with his father.

The yougner son

The younger son after living his selfish lifestyle in the beginning, later realized what he missed the relationship with this father.

The truth of the matter is:

Our approach to God depends on what we are missing in the first place.

I cannot help myself. The reality is…

Every individual has the freedom to choose how to live life. But they are unable to live 100% right all the time.

The mistakes one makes such as lying, lust, cheating, deceit, anger, evil thoughts, immoral behavior etc is something deep-rooted within.

Whether one commits small or big offense, he is guilty before God. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Romans 3:23.

Whether one realizes or not, there is a longing for God in every human heart.

A person tries to fill this longing with wrong things such as money, sex, drugs, materialism or other people.

What did the younger son finally do?

He realized that he was in a mess beyond his capacity and control and decided to go back to the father.

Confess his faults and sins.

He did not come to the father based on some credit he deserved or good he has done in the past.

How can we approach a Holy God when we deserve punishment?

This is the dilemma that One Person solved for all humanity.

Was Jesus more than a good man?

The Bible tell us clearly that He is the image of invisible God. For by him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible, whether they are kings, lords, rulers, or powers. All things have been created through him and for him. Col 1:16

What did He do?

He came to earth and lived among us without sin.

He then died on the cross, to pay the penalty for our offenses.

He thus restored our relationship to our heavenly father.

What is in it for you?

"All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned, every, one, to his own way, and the Lord has laid on Him the inquinity of us all."

Isaiah 53:6.

God hates sin but because He loved you, placed your sins on Jesus' body on the cross.
It cost Jesus, the brutal suffering and death on the cross to pardon your sins.

Your sins are forgiven when you believe this truth.

The Father’s response in the story

He was filled with compassion, loved and accepted the younger son as he was.

Likewise your Heavenly Father is more than wiling to

Restore your Privilege to be a son.

Give you Power to live new life.

Give you Purpose, meaning and direction.

If you are like the younger son today having an honest opinion about , you still have hope!

There is great rejoicing in heaven when one child returns to the father.

But if you are like the older son, you are mislead and miss the opportunity to have a REAL relationship with the father.

Faith is not...

mere intellectual assent, believing certain historical facts about God and Bible. The Bible says that even the demons believe and tremble in God. It is one thing to believe in a father and another thing to have a relationship with him.

Trusting God only during the crises in financial, family or physical needs is temporal faith.

Jesus died on the cross not to convice humans that He just exist or just meet the temporal needs.

The younger son desired more than a solution to his temporary crisis. He was permanently reinstated back to the relationship with his father.

The faith that Bible talks about is…

Trusting Jesus Christ alone for one’s salvation, based on what Christ has done  rather than on what that person has done to get to heaven.

And then living thereafter not trusting in one’s own strength but on Christ’s.

Confess and Repent of your sins. Be willing to turn from anything you have been doing that is not pleasing to Him, like younger son did. Follow God as He reveals His will to you in His Word.

Transfer your trust from what you have been doing to what Christ has done for you on the cross. Do not depend on your own ways to be saved.

Accept His forgiveness for free and recieve Christ as your Savior.

Let Him be the Lord of your life. Give over your control to Him. He paid the price so that He can live His life through you.

Here's a suggested prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, I know I am a sinner and do not deserve eternal life. But, I believe You died for my sins in my place and rose from the grave to give me hope and life. Lord Jesus, come into my life; take control of my life; forgive my sins and save me. I repent of my sins and now replace my trust in you for my salvation. I accept the free gift of eternal life. Amen.

Welcome Back!

One you truely repented and turned away from your sins AND trust in what Christ did for you, your relationship with the heavenly father is restored forever.

This is the best relationship that you always wanted but maybe never realized or had!

Congratulations! Today is your Spiritual Birthday..
a day that you always want to remember reconnecting to your heavenly father!

What happends thereafter…

When you come back to your heavenly Father like the younger son did, you are born-again, like a baby that comes to this world. Thereafter to grow you need to:

1.Pray and talk To God about everything.

Not just the stuff you think that needs prayer but about everything that concerns you.

2.Medicate God's Word as much as possible.

Medicate means reading with a open heart and prayerfully in order to obey Him.

3.Worship and keep God first with all your heart.

All your heart means 100%.

4.Share what Christ did in your life, if you care about others.

Others deserve to know this truth just like you did.

5.Meet with God's family.

Meeting, sharing and praying together is also part of your growth.
